On May 25, 2023, changes to repo.spring.io Artifactory permissions for unauthenticated users, announced in January 2023, will be put into place.

This work had been postponed by https://status.spring.io/incidents/95cyglctjbs4

These changes will:

- block anonymous download of all Spring Releases from repo.spring.io /release.
- discourage anonymous resolution via legacy aggregate virtual repositories /libs-release, /libs-milestone, /libs-snapshot, /plugins-release.


Following this work:

- Spring Releases will no longer be available for anonymous download from repo.spring.io: Spring Releases must be obtained from Maven Central.
- Legacy Virtual repositories will NOT resolve snapshots and milestones anonymously: Unauthenticated users should choose from /snapshot, /milestone, /plugins-snapshot, and /plugins-milestone.
